Easy Crochet Pumpkin Coaster

This crochet pumpkin coaster makes the perfect Thanksgiving or fall hostess gift and is a quick, fun project you can finish in one sitting. I designed this pumpkin coaster just in time to gift to neighbors for Thanksgiving dinner, and I couldn’t wait to share it with you.

Whether you’re decorating for fall or looking for a handmade crochet gift idea, this project is simple, practical, and festive. You can use other color combination if you wish.

Stitches Used (US Terms)

MR – Magic Ring

HDC– Half Double Crochet

DC - Double Crochet

TR - Triple Crochet

st / sts - stitche/s

sl st – slip stitch

ch – chain

yo - Yarn Over

Materials:

crochet coaster materials

Yarn Colors I used: Taupe, Orange and Sage

Crochet hook 5 mm

CENTER CIRCLE (Beige – Rounds 1–4)

Round 1

Make a magic ring, ch 1 to secure. Work 10 HDC into the ring. Pull tight.

Join with a sl st to first HDC. (10 sts.)

Round 2

Ch 2, 1 HDC in the same st.

2 HDC in each st. around.

Join. (20 sts.)

Round 3

Ch 2, 1 HDC in the same st.

2 HDC in each st. around.

Join. (40 sts.)

Round 4

Ch 2, HDC in each st around.

Join. (40 sts.)

Round 5

Pumpkin Border (Beige, Orange, Green)

Ch 3 (counts as 1 DC).

1 DC in each of the next 2 stitches.

On the last yarn-over of the last DC, switch to orange to begin the first pumpkin.

Pumpkin Cluster Stitch (Orange)

In the next stitch, work4 triple-crochet clusters

(yo twice, insert hook, pull up a loop, partially complete TR—repeat 4 times—yo and pull through all loops on hook).

On the final pull-through to close the puff, switch to green (drop orange).

Pumpkin Stem (Green)

Ch 1 to secure the puff.

Ch 3.

Sl st in the 2nd ch from hook.

Sl st in the 1st ch.

Sl st into the top of the puff stitch.

On this slip stitch, change back to beige (drop green).

Repeat Section

With beige, work 3 DC.

On the last yarn-over of the 3rd DC, switch to orange to begin the next pumpkin

(using the color-change method above).

Repeat the sequence:

(Pumpkin puff in orange → stem in green → 3 beige DC)

all the way around.
